Evolve: The journal

Beyond the ordinary

Introducing the Evolve Journal

Evolve Studios has always been about more than simply taking photographs.

Photography, for me, is about people, conversation, confidence, memory, identity and the strange little moments that happen in between the posed ones.

Over the past year, the studio has grown into something much bigger than I first imagined. Alongside photographing families, portraits, weddings, babies and creative sessions, I’ve found myself thinking more and more about what photography means now — especially in a world of filters, AI, retouching and constantly changing ideas of what an image should look like.

So I’m adding a journal to the website.

It’ll be a place for behind-the-scenes thoughts, photography stories, creative work, honest conversations about editing and self-image, and some of the ideas that influence the way I work at Evolve.

Nothing overly polished. Nothing written just because a website apparently needs a blog.

Just another little space for the thoughts behind the photographs.

Conversations I Didn’t Plan — Book One

A truth-filled story of grief, creativity, motherhood, art, photography, and the unexpected ways making can help us keep going.

What begins with questions unfolds into a story of loss, humour, everyday family life, and the gradual realisation that the seemingly disconnected parts of a life were never disconnected at all.

This is not a story about pain magically disappearing. It is about giving pain somewhere to go—about making something from it, and discovering, sometimes by accident, that creativity can become part of the way forward.
